How we work

Let’s make things personal
The first thing we do is get to know you and your business. Everyone’s financial affairs are different, but whatever your size and whatever you do, we get to grips with what you need before we recommend a solution.
Don’t worry about being baffled by our advice. We take care to keep things clear and simple, avoiding jargon every step of the way.
How do we know that our friendly professional approach works? Because our clients tell us how pleased they are with the results! By taking away the headaches of accountancy, we give people like you the time and space you need to get on with your job.
In fact, we’re proud to say that around 95% of our new clients come from personal recommendations. We’re pretty sure that means we’re doing something right.

Our History
Our story began in Manchester in 1895 when Arthur E. Piggott and his son formed an accountancy partnership called A. E. Piggott & Son. Charles Lloyd joined the firm in the early 1920s, but when the two founders died shortly afterwards, he took on three more partners and changed the name to Lloyd, Piggott & Co.
Mr Lloyd was with the company for almost 40 years, and it was his influence that led to us becoming specialists in the music and entertainment industries. As a keen supporter of music in Manchester, he was secretary of the Hallé Concerts Society until his death in 1969.
The company’s name changed again in the 1950s, becoming Lloyd Piggott Griffith & Naismith when Jack Griffith and Keith Naismith became partners. We continued to grow, welcoming Colin Lomas in 1962 and current partner Gary Dodds in 1975, with Gary becoming a partner in 1987.
Colin Lomas retired in 2004, but partners Gary Dodds, Sue Redmond and Paula Abbott have led the firm ever since. Continuing success meant we needed a new home – or rather, two new homes – so in 2007 we moved to Wellington House in central Manchester, and a year later we opened new offices in Poynton, Cheshire.
We are now based in Poynton and St Georges House in Manchester, and are proud to have such a wealth of history behind us!
